The American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) is the nation's oldest and largest organization of safety professionals dedicated to the preservation of health, property, and the environment. Based in Des Plaines, IL, ASSE serves the United States and numerous foreign countries.
The Greater Baton Rouge (GBR) chapter's 250 members are safety leaders in local industry, small business, and public sectors. The GBR chapter provides professional development to members, safety education to the public, and safety recommendations to legislative bodies.

Over its 35 year history, GBRIA has evolved into a dynamic organization comprised of over 50 industrial manufacturers. The association was founded in 1970 as a committee of the Greater Baton Rouge Chamber of Commerce and incorporated as a stand-alone, non profit in 1981. In 2005, the organization changed its name and logo. The Greater Baton Rouge Industry Alliance, Inc. is a 501(c)(6) non-profit organization.
